Sitting at a computer all day can lead to nagging neck pain. In this Health Smarts video, fitness expert and physical therapist Mike Clark,DPT, explains how strength training helps relieve neck pain.
Hi, I'm Dr. Mike Clark if you commute long distances in traffic or spend hours on the computer you probably are no stranger to neck pain, but you don't have to settle for soreness, try strength training. One study found that toning and strengthening trouble areas could be the best way to save your neck.
After 10 weeks the group that did strength training exercises, they are much better than those who treated their pain with cardio workouts or stress management. The strength training group did targeted exercises including arm rows and shoulder elevations. As a result they were able to zap the pain in half, but before you hit the gym, talk to your doctor.
