What Makes a Fat Good or Bad?

Welcome back. Lets set the record straight. Not all fat is bad. The truth is, you actually need a little fat in your diet. That's why we are going to play the little game called good fat versus bad fat. Let's meet our contestants Alice, Monica welcome. Thank you. Before we start let me tell you the basic difference between a good fat and bad fat.

A good fat is liquid at room temperature and bad fat are usually solid at room temperature. We are all set? One of the rules of the game. Here's how it works. I'm going to ask a very simple question, I think you are simple, about fats. If you buzz in and answer the question correctly, you get to pick a covered item on the counter.

You then have to tell me if the item is good, bad fat or has no fat. If you are correct you get a point and if not, the point goes to your opponent. We are all set? Audience you are ready? Alright, question number one for Alice and Monica, are model saturated fats good fats or bad fat? Good fats.

Good fats, absolutely right. Absolutely right. Now manufactured fats are good fats, also they are good source of vitamin A. So, you get the pic, at least which box? One, two, three, four or five? I'll go to number three. American cheese, is that a good fat, a bad fat, or is it no fat? Bad fat.

You are right. Now american cheese is processed fat and it's saturated fat and for that reason it's linked to things like heart disease. So you made a good decision, you get a point, Alice gets a point. Alright question number two. Which food is a good source of Omega-3 fatty acids. I didn't give you, it's three choices though, it's not how you play the game.

Alright, now what's the answer? Salmon? It's no one of the choices. Oh sorry. Alright, I'll read the whole question, we'll play it again let's be set. Which food is a good source of Omega-3 fatty acids, is it peanuts, walnuts or olive oil? Oh Alice fast, yes. Walnuts. Walnuts? She's right.

Peanuts aren't real tree nuts, right? They grow on the ground, they're legumes. They come out of the dirt, you want tree nuts, they're the ones that rich in the healthy fats and walnuts are best source of omega three fats. So, you get to pick again. Let's go for number one. Guacamole.

I'm going to say good fat. She's right again, good fat. Talking about [XX] fat. Well avocados are wonderful source of that and for that reason you put them in the good bucket categories. Question number three. Trans fats are okay in moderation true or false? I am going to say true. Monica, you get to pick a box because trans fats are never okay.

The trans fats are designed specifically to prolong self life of products. So, there is no value because it does not extend human life. Monica, to you. I will take box number four. Number four is beer. No fats=, she's right, no fat. We will just take this point. There a lot of foods out there.

They're called low fat food and the way they make them palatable they put tone sugar in them. So, just cause its no fat doesn't mean it's not good. Beer has a lot of excess calories, and for that reason it's not a beverage you want to drink in large quantities, but there is no fat.
