Hi, I am Dr. Oz, and here's your smart health tip for today. Having trouble losing weight? Here's a smart habit that can help you control cravings. Eat less and get thin. Meditate for just seven minutes a day. A technique called mindful meditation has a surprising perk when it comes to managing your weight. It helps you have fewer cravings, and when you're confronted with a tempting doughnut, you'll be far more likely to resist.

Daily meditation also reduces stress and helps you sleep better, that helps you lose weight too. Meditation is easy, here's how. First, find a quiet space, even the bathroom is fine, because you know what, no one will bother you there. Then, sit in a comfortable position. You can sit in a chair, or on the couch, or even on the floor. Close your eyes and begin to breathe naturally. Notice whether your breath feels warm or cold. When your mind wonders, and it will, just refocus on your breath. After seven minutes or so, open your eyes and reenter the world. Meditation is a powerful tool for your health. You don't need any special equipment and you can meditate anywhere at any time.
