Canola Oil for Colon Health

Read Transcript

[SOUND] Hi, I'm Dr. Oz. Here's a tip to keep your colon in good shape. If you still use corn oil for cooking, here's a good reason to make a switch. When it comes to keeping your colon healthy, canola oil is the smarter choice. So what's the difference? Canola oil is high in Omega 3 fatty acids, that's a healthy unsaturated fat.

They may help suppress the growth of colon tumors. Corn oil is high in Omega 6 fatty acids. Getting too much of this type of fat, especially imbalance with omega 3's can cause inflammation that leads to diabetes, heart disease and cancer, like colon cancer. In one study, research has found that compared to a corn oil diet, a canola oil diet was then the fewer cold tumors and much large tumors.

So go ahead, make the switch. Your colon, and the rest of you will be healthier for it. I'm Dr. Oz, stay tuned for more ways to nourish your health.[SOUND].
