What Can I Do to Ease Constipation Caused by MS?

There is several natural things that you can do to help prevent constipation. One, is just reducing the caffeine because it's not going to dehydrate you and so reducing the things that are making you lose water in addition to drinking more water will just simply help your body to have regular bowel movements.

Another thing that I really recommend is taking fiber at night, in general most Americans don't get enough fiber in their diet so it's not really a supplement, this is what we should be aiming for but because we don't tend to eat enough fresh vegetables, we just don't get it. So just supplementing it with psyllium at night will also help give your bowels the bulk it needs to simply move things through, and if your digestive system is sensitive, meaning when you eat you get bloated or you have abdominal pain or you just feel like extremely sleepy, it means you need help digesting the food.

So for patients who are having any of those symptoms I recommend that they cook their food, not eating a lot of raw vegetables but actually cooking their foods at least a little bit, so it makes it easier to digest. When your food is better digested, it also helps you to have more regular bowel movements.
