To Eat Fewer Calories, Enjoy Calm Meals

Hi, Dr. Oz here with a smart, sensible tip to help you eat fewer calories. During meal times, are you stressed? Are you at your desk working through lunch to finish a deadline, or are you at home starring at the kitchen counter for a quick bite before your next errand. If you want to look better, eat less, and maintain a healthy weight, set the right mood at meal time.

The bright lights, colors, and loud sounds of fast food dinning rooms are designed to make people eat faster and scruff down more calories than dimly lit rooms with soothing music. Try these tips to set the tone to your next meal. First, turn off digital devices including the TV. Use moderate size dishes, and sit in a comfortable chair and table.

Turn of the overhead light and place some soft music. Also be aware of the colors around you, red stimulates appetite, that's why it's used in so many fast food restaurants. But blue is calming, and helps suppress your appetite. Next, prepare a salad with a dash of healthy olive oil and balsamic vinegar, pair with fresh steamed veggies and broiled fish.

Now just settle in for good conversation with your kids or partner, and calmly enjoy every last bite. Do this daily for at least one meal, and your waistline will thank you. I'm Dr. Oz, for more ways to nourish your health, watch all of our smart tips, right here.
