What's a good way to avoid weight gain and the aging from a big belly as you age? Eat. You didn't expect me to say that. People who eat meals at regular times tend to have smaller waists than people who sometimes skip them. I'm not saying you should eat when you're not hungry. The key is eating regularly so you don't get famished.

When you skip a meal, your taste buds become more tuned in to both sweet and salty flavors, but not so much the bitter ones like in broccoli, or Brussels sprouts, or other veggies. Eating scheduled meals and snacks also helps prevent metabolic syndrome or insulin resistance, conditions that can pave the way for heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.

The best place to start your healthy eating habit is with a good breakfast. That's the most frequently skipped meal of the day. Don't just have coffee. You can have coffee, but pick something in addition that you like, and have it everyday such as a slice of 100% whole grain bread with a teaspoon of peanut butter, that will do the trick.
