In one study of dieters, those who started each meal with a tall glass of water dropped more weight in 12 weeks than those who didn't. Dieters who drank water to help their weight loss dropped almost four pounds more, and did it 44% faster.

In this study they drink water to lose more benefits varied by age and wasn't as significant for younger adults. Plenty of other research suggests that in general drinking more water could boost weight loss efforts. So, think about what you drink. What's behind the boost? Proper hydration could curb hunger and help you eat less at each meal.

The water may also replace high-calorie fructose drinks.
