Hi, I'm Dr. Miller. If you're diabetes and enjoy eating out, beware of this common restaurant carb traps. There's a reason restaurant meals go heavy on the carbohydrates. Carbs are satisfying comfort food, there're cheap too the biggest carb trap is the bread basket. Bread is one of the worst foods for people with diabetes especially if it's made with white flour, white flour is the simple refine carbohydrate that makes your blood sugars spike. The basket of fatty salty top tea or chips commonly sold in the Mexican restaurant is another known out, so play it safe and ask the server to remove them from the table.

Also be ware of other simple top carbs traps such as potato, foster and white rice. These food are higher in glycemic index that means they convert to sugar very quickly in your body and make your blood sugars sky rocket. Here are some tips to place smart order, ask for a double order of vegetables and skip the baked potatoes.
