Can I Use Artificial Sweeteners If I Have Diabetes?

One of the things that gets me a little frustrated is that, when you see diabetes magazines in the grocery store, the covers always have cakes, cookies, and pies on them. And you open up the magazine, and it's all about how you can make these things with artificial sweetners, and I think rather than sending a message of how you can eat lousy food with artificial sweeteners, we should probably be sending a message that people should be eating properly. I think though that clearly, if you have to have something sweet, it's better to use an artificial sweetener than sugar, some of them maybe safer than others, there's not as much data as we would like, generally I think they're safe.
