Migraines can be triggered by changes in environment, stress and even food choices. In this video, Mark Green, MD, discusses triggers for migraines and how they can be controlled.
It's interesting that people with migraine have brains that don't like changing things, they don't like oversleeping or undersleeping, stress, relaxation, following stress, drops in hormones, missing meals, things like that so they are varied, but they all have to do with changes in some aspect of the environment.
To the extent that we can fix them, we try to. You can't change the weather, sometimes we can't change stress, but sometimes we can, but we want people to follow a diet that's reasonable. We want them to eat multiple small meals a day, to keep hydrated, to keep their caffeine and sleep schedules the same.
A migraine is no ordinary headache, and migraines affect more than 1 in 8 American adults. Get expert information about migraine triggers and treatment, including how smart nutrition and watching the weather can help prevent the pain.
