What Is the Rating Scale for Migraines?

Read Transcript

It's subjective, when we do clinical trials on drugs, we have kind of a rating system that would help you. For example, we rate headaches 0, 1, 2, and 3 and 0 would be no headache, 1 would be mild, where you're able to function, but you have a headache, 2 would be moderate where you are functioning isn't impaired.

You're at work, or at school but you are not really thinking very clearly. May be you're yawning, maybe you are nauseated, and then there's a 3 where you are disabled, often in bed, can't do anything. So that's kind of a rating scale we like to use.
