Bio

Rae Lewis-Thornton was diagnosed with HIV at the age of 23. Despite her present status of having full-blown AIDS, she leads a ceaseless crusade to educate and challenge audiences to take control of their futures and health. She challenges the most common myths and stereotypes surrounding who and how one becomes infected with HIV. Lewis-Thornton has been featured on several national news broadcasts such as NBC’s Dateline and on CNN. She served as a contributing editor for a CBS series of first person stories on living with AIDS, earning an Emmy Award for her work. Her writing can be found on her namesake blog and POZ, a print and online magazine for people living with HIV/AIDS.
