Rachel Begun

Bio

Begun is the owner of a food and nutrition communications practice that provides nutrition consulting, education and communications services to health and education organizations and the food industry, including manufacturers, retailers and foodservice providers, and culinary schools.  She also counsels patients with celiac disease, gluten related disorders and food allergies and educates the public and other food and nutrition professionals through speaking opportunities, educational webinars and writing for publications, including her own blog, The Gluten Free RD.  Begun previously worked as a public relations and nutrition communications professional for various aspects of the food industry, including a public relations agency that serviced food and nutrition clients, a school foodservice provider, a natural foods brand, and a food and wine retailer.  Begun is a Scientific/Medical Advisory Board Member for the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness and Delicious Living Magazine Advisory Board Member. She is also currently Chair for the Dietitians in Business and Communications Dietetic Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for which she was a recipient of their 2011 Founder’s Award.  Begun graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Emory University as a pre-medical studies student and earned a master’s degree in nutrition education from Columbia University.
