Hello everyone!

Lately I have talked about some BIG news that I was going to share with everyone. Well, today's the day that I spill the beans...

On May 9th my girlfriend (Stacey) and I will be departing the US for a 3 month backpacking trip through Europe!!!

Stace and I have been planning, researching, dreaming and saving for this trip for over a year and a half. And now, we are on the brink of turning this dream into a reality. Our back story for this whole trip is kinda cool so let me bring you up to speed:

Stace and I have wanted to travel since we were both in college at Colorado State University. We have taken a week trip to Cancun and and an amazing 2 week trip to Bonaire, never got a chance to study abroad during school or TRAVEL travel. This was partially due to the fact that while in college we started a clothing company called Esoterik.

Esoterik (Adj.): understood by and meant for only the select few; belonging to an inner circle. Esoterik was the product of diligence, creative persistence, and an ability to tend unfailingly and unflinchingly towards a goal. It was the result of the human soul on fire. Stacey and I put on fashion shows, trunk shows, sponsored a motocross athlete and an up-and-coming singer/songwriter. Through our hardwork and dedication, we were named as finalists in BusinessWeek's search for the Top 25 Entrepreneurs Under 25!

Stacey and I moved from Fort Collins to Denver in hopes of expanding and evolving Esoterik. For the next 2 years we worked 'day' jobs and focused on Esoterik. As time passed however, our passion for the clothing industry began to fade and we were getting ansy for a change. As one passion faded, another was taking it's place: travel!

We had always tossed around the idea of moving back home, saving money and going on a Europe trip. But, like many ambitious ideas, it got put on the back burner for more 'realistic' plans. Our lease was up on the loft we were renting so we had to make a decision on what we wanted to do. We stated looking for other places to live that were cheaper and would allow us to save money for a future trip. One day we were in downtown Denver looking at potential places to move into and went to a bar Prime Bar to mull over our options.

As we discussed the placed we'd looked at, I half-jokingly suggested that we should just move back home to our families, save all that rent money, and go to Europe. Stacey, without skipping a beat said, "I'll do it if you'll do it." I glanced at her and we both kind of raised our eyebrows and grinned like, "do you really wanna do it?" We shook hands, toasted with our dirty martini's (one of 'our' drinks, extra dirty, 3 blue cheese stuffed olives) and with that, we had decided to completely pack up shop and embrace a HUGE change.

This happened in January of 2011 and at the time I was working as a personal trainer for 24 Hour Fitness and Stacey worked for Jones International University. We informed our employers that we were moving and packed up all of our belongings. To make a long story short (maybe we'll write a book about it someday) we moved back to where our parents lived and spent the next year and a half sacrificing, struggling, saving, planning and dreaming about our upcoming trip.

We had initially planned on going to Europe in the fall of 2011 but decided that pushing it out until the spring of 2012 would allow us to save more money which would allow us to travel for longer. We were initially going to travel for ~6 weeks but decided to go for broke and plan an 86 day trip through 13 countries in Europe!

Now, we aren't going to post our itinerary up all at once. We are going to post our trip as we take it, live, on the road with our packs on our backs!

I already know that the travel bug is going to infect us to the point where we will do anything to keep traveling. We are already planning on ways to keep traveling, exploring, blogging, and recording our travels to share with everyone.

But, here is the icing on the cake: I have been involved in the health and fitness industry for the last 7 years and am prepping to enter the next phase of my career. I love to travel but just can't bear the thought of going for 3 months without working out! So, Stacey and I have decided to take my TRX with us to and plan on working out in every city of every country we visit!

We envision everything from looping it over a light pole in Prague and securing it to a tree in Barcelona, to getting in a set of split squats in Switzerland and doing the 40/40 in Croatia! Wherever we go, the TRX goes.

With that, we have started a blog called Kallisrates, which is Greek for Beautiful Army. Our blog is a fitness and travel based endeavour. We will be filming our workouts in HD as well as taking still photos and posting them on our YouTube, twitter, facebook and blog pages.
