In my journey of losing 80 pounds, I needed to find something that was satisfying and filling for a snack.

So, today I am sharing with you my love for Greek yogurt.  I am not a fan of low fat dairy products usually, since flavor or texture seems to be sacrificed.  However, non-fat Greek yogurt is just as thick and creamy as its low-fat and full-fat counterparts.

What I love about Greek yogurt is its protein content, for 1 cup of yogurt, you get 20 grams of protein, this protein is useful for muscle growth and recovery, it helps to satisfy your hunger and can increase your serotonin levels (helping you to be more calm and relaxed).

For a snack, you can have 1/2 cup to a cup of plain Greek yogurt (I stay clear of the fruit flavored varieties to keep the sugar content reduced) and add some stevia and cinnamon to taste and top with 1/4 cup blueberries and about 7-8 almonds, a perfect snack, mid-morning, afternoon pre-workout or post-workout.  Boost your breakfast with a full cup of yogurt, 1/2 cup of berries, and 1/4 cup of granola, sweeten with stevia.

Some other options are to swap out sour cream and use Greek yogurt instead, the consistency of Greek Yogurt is very thick and my family can't tell the difference.  We use it on tacos, chili, etc.  I also use Greek yogurt in place of oil when I am baking (if the recipe calls for 1/4 cup of oil, I use about the same in Greek Yogurt and add some water if the batter is a little thick),  it gives a moist texture and reduces the fat in my baked goods.  You can give these ideas a try, enjoy!
