There is a lot of chatter the last couple years about training and/or running barefoot. We see the Vibrams (like gloves for your feet) in the gyms, at the parks and I get questions about them all the time. Is it better to run in the Vibrams (or any other brand, I know Adidas has them now) or in running shoes? Is it better to strength train barefoot? A lot of people have differing views on the subject and I would love to hear some feedback. Personally, if I have an athlete that prefers traing barefoot, and I can control the enviroment, meaning have them on good turf or sand, I like doing sprint work with them barefoot or in whatever brand foot glove they choose. I have never recomended doing distance work barefoot in the past but this article raises some good points. I have some clients that prefer strength work barefoot and I try to discourage it as much as I can because of potential injury (Dropping weights, stubbed toes etc..) but those barefooters are passionate about it! I guess the debate goes on...
