Elayne Forgie

Elayne founded the Alzheimer’s Care Resource Center after spending more than 24 years helping families keep their loved one at home, as the founder of not one, but two well respected and very successfully South Florida private duty home care companies.

Through the years she discovered that although her home care agencies had been quite successful in meeting the needs of the Alzheimer’s patient, her caregivers ~ the spouses, sons and daughters, were continually losing the Alzheimer’s caregiving battle and becoming her patients too.

It wasn’t until January 2013 when the news that an Alzheimer’s caregiver went to a local nursing home, shot and killed his wife, and then killed himself, that she was propelled into action.

After doing exhaustive research; recognizing the huge void in services and programs focused strictly on caregivers; and speaking with local and national Alzheimer’s leaders, the Alzheimer’s Care Resource Center was born. Elayne is determined, that never again will an Alzheimer’s caregiver in her community, not have a place to turn to when they feel so lost and so alone.

Elayne Forgie has been a professional geriatric care manager for more than 24 years and was a founding Board Member of the Florida Geriatric Care Managers Association. She is a member of the Case Management Society of America and the American Counseling Association and is the president and founder of ElderCare At Home.

Elayne is presently serving on the Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Association Southeast Florida Chapter and on the Executive Board for the Area Agency on Aging/Your Aging Resource Center. Additionally, she serves and on the Advocacy Advisory Board for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and has been awarded both their Excellence in Care Specialist and Dementia Care Professional designations.

Elayne has been recognized on local, state, and national levels as both a certified geriatric care manager and as president/owner of an Inc. 500 company. She has over 25 years of direct experience focusing on the needs of older adults, caregivers, and family members living with the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or other cognitive impairments. She has an impeccable reputation for providing comprehensive care and services and has helped thousands of families across the United States.

Elayne is active in a number of local organizations including Executive Women of the Palm Beaches and the Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She is presently working with other local leaders in the establishment of Dementia Specific Standards for service delivery to patients and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
