Dr. Mao Shing Ni, known as Dr. Mao, is a 38th-generation doctor of Chinese medicine, the leading authority on Taoist anti-aging medicine, and author of the best-selling book Secrets of Longevity, Secrets of Self-Healing, Second Spring: Hundreds of Natural Secrets for Women, Secrets of Longevity 8-Week Program, and The Natural Health Dictionary.
Dr. Mao is a cofounder of Yo San University and the Tao of Wellness, the acclaimed center for nutrition, Chinese medicine, and acupuncture, located in Santa Monica, CA.
Born into a medical family spanning many generations, Dr. Mao began his medical training with his father, a renowned physician of Chinese medicine and Taoist Master, and continued his trainings in schools both in the U.S. and China. After receiving his doctorate degrees and completing his Ph.D. Dissertation on Nutrition, Dr. Mao did his graduate work at Shanghai Medical University and its affiliated hospitals and began his 25-year study of centenarians in China.
Dr. Mao is currently a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and the National Alliance of Oriental Medicine. He has received numerous awards including “outstanding Acupuncturist of the Year”, “Best of L.A.”, and others.
Known on Sex and the City as “Dr. Wow”, Dr. Mao has lectured internationally and has been featured on radio and television, as well as on the pages of the New York Times, L.A.
