All About YOU: How to Sleep Better

Want to learn how to sleep better and feel well-rested the following morning? Try these sleeping tips.

1. Get on a schedule. Your body clock runs best when, like a baby, you get yourself on a regular sleep schedule. So aim to get up at about the same time every day -- whether you have a full day of work or a full day of relaxation ahead of you. On weekends, try to rise within an hour of the time you get up during the week.

2. Change your temperature. The ideal setting for slumber is a cool, dark room. If you're having trouble sleeping, try removing a layer of clothing or lowering the thermostat.

3. Eat sleep-friendly foods. That means oats, sweet corn, or rice, or try a complex carbohydrate that contains nutrients that can boost levels of melatonin and serotonin in the body, like vegetables or whole-grain pasta. You could also go with the classic remedy: warm milk. And, of course, avoid stimulants like caffeine and exercise near bedtime.

Learning how to sleep better could be as simple as these three sleeping tips. You’ll see an improvement in your health and your mood. Sweet dreams!
