Sex In Your Seventies

Sex In Your Seventies

People are often surprised when someone in their late 70s becomes a dad or someone with a TV image as sweet as The Partridge Family mom Shirley Jones (now 79) insists “old age and sexuality are not incompatible.” But life and medical research clearly demonstrates that you’re never too old to enjoy sexual intimacy in one form or another.

Now a new survey from Germany reveals that ever-more good-old-times are going on. Sexual activity among 70-year-olds has increased from 12% to 34% for women and from 47% to 66% for men since the 1970s. A U.S. survey has similar findings. For men and women combined, today 53% of those 65 to 74 report an active sex life and 26% of those between the ages of 75 and 85.

This surge in the urge-to-merge may be because these days folks know aging isn’t the same as drying up and blowing away! There are also the modern erectile dysfunction (ED) meds and lubricants that can enhance older relationships. But whatever the reasons, the benefits are heart-pumpingly good: having a satisfying intimate relationship (or just frequent orgasm) eases stress, protects against cardiovascular woes, and strengthens your immune system.
