Can anger help solve problems?

Just the act of getting angry will not solve problems, but anger may prompt action that can solve problems.

Anger expression can have goals that include:

  • Correcting a wrongdoing, or letting the offender know that a behavior was inappropriate
  • Maintaining a relationship, or addressing the problems in the relationship that prompted your anger
  • Demonstrating your power, which may be one way to make sure this trigger doesn't happen again
