Your body needs to detoxify substances from outside the body (exogenous) and those made inside the body (endogenous).

Common external sources that need to be detoxified are:
  • Herbicides
  • Pesticides
  • Air pollutants
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), phthalates, bisphenol-A
Common internal sources that need to be detoxified are:
  • Toxins produced by intestinal microbes
  • Hormones
  • Bile acids
  • Metabolic intermediates
