Does lorcaserin interact with any other medications?

Donna Hill Howes, RN
Family Practitioner

If you are taking a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist, an antipsychotic drug, bupropion, an ergot derivative, linezolid, an MAO inhibitor, metaxalone, metoclopramide, an opioid, tedizolid, thioridazine, lorcaserin can lead to serious side effects and should be avoided.

If you are taking doxorubicin or eliglustat, lorcaserin can lead to side effects and should be avoided.

If you are taking metoprolol, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, or a PDE5 inhibitor, lorcaserin may not be a good option for you.
