How is the ReShape Duo device placed in the stomach?

The procedure to place the ReShape Duo device in a person's stomach requires about 15 to 30 minutes, and is completed on an outpatient basis using conscious sedation, requiring no incisions or sutures and therefore creating no scarring. While the person is sedated, a scope is placed through the mouth down through the esophagus into the stomach. A dual chamber balloon, in an uninflated state, is advanced over a special wire and placed into the stomach. Each of the chambers is inflated with saline or salt water and sealed. Once the device is filled, it is released, and it remains in the stomach for six months, providing built-in portion control for the person.
