How does Wegener's granulomatosis affect the body?

Wegener's granulomatosis causes immune cells responsible for inflammation to cluster together and form granulomas. These granulomas will eventually destroy the normal tissue found around blood vessels. When normal tissue is destroyed, blood flow is restricted to certain organs, causing severe damage. In fatal cases of Wegener's granulomatosis, kidney failure is the most common cause of death.
