By week 9, you have probably already had your first prenatal doctor's appointment and are in the full swing of pregnancy. You probably feel pregnant even though other people may not notice any changes in your physical appearance. At this point, you may start to notice a little weight gain. It is important not to worry too much about your weight. Some weight gain - up to five pounds for most women in the first trimester - is normal and healthy for your baby. Don't overdo it on the calories, though. Remember to eat a healthy, balanced diet that has plenty of fruits and vegetables. You should also keep in mind that some of the "heaviness" you feel is probably caused by fluid retention and your growing uterus, which is now larger than a grapefruit. If you have questions about weight gain or other symptoms during week 9, talk to your doctor.
