How is my baby growing and developing during week 28 of pregnancy?


At 28 weeks the fetus weighs about 2.25 pounds and measures about 15 inches in length. The fetus is exhibiting a number of human characteristics such as blinking the eyes, the presence of eye lashes, and rapid eye movements which sleeping. The fetus has also developed the ability to suck, hiccup and take practice breaths.

At 28 weeks of pregnancy -- the beginning of the last trimester -- your child's brain continues to develop. Your child may be growing eyelashes and blinking their eyes right now. At this point in the pregnancy, your child has a good chance of being born healthy if you have a preterm delivery. However, your baby's chance for a healthy delivery increases as each week passes.
