How is my baby growing and developing during week 21?

By week 21 of pregnancy you've probably started to notice your baby wiggling and moving, even kicking, around in your uterus. This week, your baby will begin to consume some of the amniotic fluid around it as the digestive system continues to develop -- but keep in mind that this small amount of consumption does not nearly replace the placenta as the baby's primary food supply. At this point, your baby's eyelids have completely formed, as has the genitalia. Finally, your baby's bone marrow has started producing blood cells for its body; until this point, that has been the job of the baby's liver and spleen.
