You are nearing the end of the first trimester. Some of the discomforts associated with early pregnancy are beginning to subside.Prenatal care at this time is focused on education about how to have a healthy pregnancy and monitoring the status of the pregnancy. This is a good time to start practicing some healthy behaviors to be maintained for the remainder of this pregnancy and beyond. These behaviors include:

  • Practicing Kegel exercises
  • Eating a healthy diet
  • Getting regular exercise – even a walk around the block counts
By week 11, prenatal care usually involves simply maintaining your healthy habits you've been following throughout pregnancy. At this point, you're probably starting to feel a little less nauseated, meaning your appetite has likely returned. This will make it easier to eat a wider variety of healthful foods and to focus on getting the nutrients you need through your diet. Folic acid, iron, calcium, and vitamin C continue to be very important for your baby's development as its organs are quickly developing, so try to eat food like dried peas and beans, leafy greens, whole grains, and fruits. Don't hesitate to contact your doctor if you have any questions about prenatal care.
