According to the claims on its label, the supplement Nail-ex can improve your nails. Each Nail-ex tablet contains 2,500 micrograms (mcg) of biotin, a B vitamin found in the human body and in many foods, including eggs, whole grains, soybeans and other legumes, nuts and nut butters, and bananas. Some studies have suggested that taking biotin as a supplement may improve thin, splitting or brittle fingernails and toenails, but more study is needed to confirm these preliminary findings.

The National Academy of Sciences has set the adequate daily intake of biotin for adults at 30 mcg. The amount of biotin in Nail-ex is considerably higher than that. Talk to your doctor before taking Nail-ex or any other dietary supplement.
