What are the health benefits of biotin?

Biotin offers many health benefits. All B vitamins, including biotin, help the body metabolize food and turn it into energy. They're also essential for healthy skin, hair, nails and eyes and normal functioning of the liver and the nervous system.

During pregnancy, biotin is important for the growth and development of the embryo. There's some preliminary research to suggest that taking supplements of biotin may help treat brittle nails, but further studies are needed to confirm those results.
