Vitamin D is associated with many health benefits, including reducing some forms of pain, decreasing falls and fractures, and improving strength. Most folks recognize that vitamin D helps build strong bones, but its many non-skeletal benefits might be even more important. For example, vitamin D relieves the symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD), a form of depression associated with a lack of sunlight and, therefore, more prevalent in winter.
