D1000 is a vitamin supplement. The generic name for Fosamax is Alendronate.  Fosamax with D contains vitamin D. It comes in two different doses of Vitamin D -- 2800 IU and 5600 IU. If your physician prescribes Fosamax with D, he or she will select the dose based on your vitamin D level in your body.
