Is vitamin C safe for pregnant women or nursing mothers?

Generally, vitamin C that is gotten from food intake is safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women. However, research is unclear about the safety of more than the recommended amounts of vitamin C in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Vitamin C is excreted through breast milk. However, not enough research has been done to determine if it is beneficial or not to the infant. You should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant and you are contemplating taking a regimen of vitamin C tablets.
