Because there are so many forms of visual impairment, there are many treatments with varying durations. Corrective lenses may have to be worn for near- or farsightedness for the rest of your life. Surgery is has a shorter duration, usually involving just several days for recovery. However, after some surgical correction you will need to apply eye drops for several weeks or even indefinitely, depending on the type of surgery. Eye drops for glaucoma must be applied several times a day for as long as the pressure persists.
