How do medications treat peritonsillar abscess?

If the peritonsillar abscess is cause by bacteria, antibiotics are used to treat the infection. Pain medication is used to manage the pain associated with peritonsillar abscess. Medication may also be prescribed to treat other symptoms of the infection, such as fever. Note that medication alone may not cure this condition.
