Lymphadenopathy is another term for swollen glands, or lymph nodes. Lymph nodes are part of a larger lymph system in your body that fights infections and keeps you healthy. The lymph nodes that usually swell are in your neck and head areas, as well as your armpit and groin. Lymph nodes may swell when your body is fighting an infection. Swollen lymph nodes can also be a sign of a serious illness.
