People get viral oral infections when they come into contact with the virus that causes the disease. Before you become sick, the virus must enter your healthy cells and begin to reproduce. Viruses enter your body through several ways. You can expose yourself to viral oral infections through sexual contact or kissing, as well as coming into contact with another's sores in some other way. People who have the virus and do not wash their hands can also spread the virus to an object, which can spread it to another person who touches that object. Viral infections like chickenpox or hand, foot, and mouth disease tend to produce sores around the mouth.
