In most cases, vestibular neuronitis is not serious. Instead, it tends to go away on its own after a few weeks. In some cases, however, vestibular neuronitis can leave lingering symptoms. Sometimes, people who have had the disorder suffer from prolonged balance problems or dizziness. In these cases, vestibular rehabilitation may be necessary. Although having equilibrium problems requires life changes, the condition is not life threatening.
