How many people suffer from mononucleosis?

It is not certain how many people suffer from mononucleosis. Teens are more likely to get all the symptoms, and the disease does not always present symptoms in children. We do know that infection with the virus that causes mono is very common. About 50% of children in the United States aged 5 and younger and 95% of adult have been infected.
