Your doctor will probably be able to diagnose labyrinthitis through a physical exam, but sometimes people need additional tests. During your exam, the doctor will check your ears, eye movement, and balance. Your doctor can often tell that you have an inner ear inflammation during the exam. Further tests are rarely needed but are sometimes used to eliminate other possible reasons for your symptoms. They may include an MRI, EEG, CT scan, or more balance testing.
