How do other illnesses affect yellow fever?

While there are ways to medically support a person with yellow fever, recovery is determined ultimately by the strength of an individual's immune system. Therefore, if a person's immune system is compromised for any reason, they are at greater risk of severe disease and death. Reasons for a weakened immune system might include HIV, certain medications including steroids or cancer treatments, or other chronic disease.
