Can the progression of peripheral vascular disease be stopped?

Progression of the disease can certainly be stopped with good medical therapy. This includes cholesterol-lowering drugs and control of blood sugar and blood pressure. At this time, there is little evidence to suggest that we can cause a significant regression of blockages once they occur. We can, however, stop progression and stabilize the disease that is already present.
