What is the rate of incidence for vaginal cancer?

Vaginal cancer is rare. Only about 1 to 3 percent of all gynecological cancers are vaginal cancer. More often, cancers in nearby areas, like the cervix, will spread to the vagina; vaginal cancer, which originates in the vagina, is much less common. The American Cancer Society reports that about 2,400 women in the United States are diagnosed with the disease every year.
