How does a colposcopy relate to vaginal cancer?

Your doctor may perform a colposcopy if he or she wants to examine your vagina for signs of vaginal cancer. A colposcope is a small microscope with a special light. It allows a doctor to see a magnified view of the vagina in order to examine for any abnormal cells.
