What is the DTaP-IPV vaccine?

DTaP- IPV is a combination immunizing agent containing diphtheria toxid (the children's dose), tetanus toxoid, acellular pertussis vaccine and inactivated poliovirus vaccine.  The vaccine is given by intramuscular (IM) injection to protect children from diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and poliovirus infections. It causes the body to produce antibodies to the bacteria and the virus. This vaccine is intended for children ages six weeks to six years of age, and is not approved for adults or older persons. This combination is available only under the brand name Kinrix.
