Ixiaro is now approved for use in children as young as 2 months old. Previously, the vaccine was available only for those aged 17 and older.

Japanese encephalitis, or JE, is caused by a virus spread by bites from infected mosquitoes. Living or traveling in rural Asia for long periods presents the greatest risk. If you think your child should get this vaccine, talk to your doctor.
