Unfortunately, taking the Zostavax vaccine now would not help your aunt. Zostavax does not treat shingles once it develops. The vaccine also does not treat the pain that your aunt may get after the rash is gone. After your aunt's shingles rash has gone away, she should talk with her doctor about whether she should get the vaccine to help prevent getting the disease again.
