Antibiotics are used to attack the bacteria that have entered the bladder. The doctor may use a sensitivity test to find the antibiotic that will most effectively fight the bacteria that is present. The drugs used for the most common types of infection include amoxicillin, ampicillin and trimethoprim. If Chlamydia or Mycoplasma is found, doxycycline or tetracycline is used to fight the infection.
